2025 Progress at Lonyi Village

2025 marked significant progress in bringing the campus to life. The delivery and installation of the carpentry workshop was a major milestone. It now sits adjacent to the welding workshop, which together will support career technical training in construction and skilled trades.
The Simulation Container Lab has arrived on site and is now positioned to support medical training, education programming, and community health capacity building. In addition, two classroom blocks are currently under construction and are scheduled for completion in June 2026.
Critical infrastructure development is also underway. The water tower, storage tank, and pump systems were under construction throughout 2025, with completion expected in February 2026. Solar structures supporting agrivoltaics training have also been installed. Agrivoltaics is an innovative approach that uses the same land to produce both food and solar energy. By harnessing sunlight to generate electricity while also supporting crop production underneath the solar structures, this model helps improve agricultural productivity while expanding access to sustainable power. These installations will support training in renewable energy, modern farming practices, and sustainable economic development for the community.
It has been exciting to see physical structures finally taking shape after years of planning and preparation. Our goal is to secure funding to complete the remaining campus utilities, including washroom facilities, a utility building, power equipment, septic systems, and data infrastructure, allowing the campus to become fully operational in 2026.
Beyond infrastructure, Lonyi Village is already creating local economic opportunity. Construction activities are providing employment and hands-on technical training for 25 local workers, helping build skills while advancing campus development.
Lonyi Village continues to move from vision to reality—transforming planning into impact, and infrastructure into opportunity for communities across Moyo District.
