Bessi Bernard's story is one of returning home to rebuild. Born in Moyo, his family fled during conflict and lived in refugee camps before he made the choice to come back and help restore his community from the ground up. That history shapes everything about how he leads today as senior hospital administrator at Moyo General Hospital, where he has partnered with Pipeline since its earliest days working in the district.
Bernard goes far beyond the responsibilities of his title, mobilizing his community to support Pipeline's initiatives and making sure Pipeline's priorities stay aligned with what the district actually needs. Long before Pipeline was involved, he personally collected money from family members to purchase baby formula from Arua for infants who couldn't otherwise get it. This year, Bernard has expanded his vision for community resilience even further, helping lead a new rice farm project designed to build lasting food security and economic opportunity for the families he serves. His is a story of showing up, again and again, for the place he calls home.
